Lexar Unveils New Professional Go SSD and Hub

Lexar has announced the Professional Go Portable SSD with Hub on Kickstarter. It is a small storage solution for mobile filmmakers who use the Apple iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max devices.

The Hub connects to the smartphone via USB-C and supports up to 2TB of independent storage. While the Hub uses the phone’s single USB-C port, it also contains four Type-C ports that can connect to a portable SSD, microphone, power bank, and other devices. One of the supplied ports enables 30W power delivery and transfer rates of up to 10Gbps.

The Lexar Professional Go Portable SSD includes a bent connector that hooks into the phone’s USB-C port while the SSD is buried under the phone. It also has a small footprint, measuring 1.71 x 0.98 x 0.32 inches. The Hub, which measures 2.71 x 1.71 x 0.32 inches, attaches to this on the underside of the phone. Notably, the SSD and Hub are the same thickness, so they fit together flush. Furthermore, no wires are required, and the SSD and Hub are IP65 rated.

The Lexar Professional Go Portable SSD costs $129 for the 1TB version, which includes a 1TB SSD, silicone protective case, male-to-female converter, storage box, and 20 label stickers. Backers can add the Hub, a cold shoe adapter cable, a male-to-male adapter, and a storage bag for $159 in total.

The 2TB Portable SSD costs $209; adding the Hub raises the pledge price to $239. Retail costs for the Lexar Portable SSD will begin at $189, or $239 for the 1TB SSD and Hub. The 2TB SSD and Hub will cost $349 total.
