Lexar SL660 Blaze SSD with Integrated RGB Lighting
Lexar, which was acquired by Chinese manufacturer Longsys in 2017, has announced a new SL660 BLAZE Gaming Portable SSD that features RGB lighting. The compact drive uses the latest USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 technology to deliver extremely fast read and write speeds of up to 2000MB/s and 1900MB/s. The housing is described as a premium aluminum enclosure that has a sandblasted finish that Lexar says results in added protection in the form of shock and vibration resistance.
Lexar’s SL660 is marketed towards gamers, but its 2000MB/s read and 1900MB/s write speeds offer respectable performance in a sleek, compact form factor. To achieve these speeds, the drive is built around an NVMe SSD and uses a USB (Type C) 3.2 Gen 2×2 connection. The SSD also features 256-bit AES Encryption with password protection.
The Lexar SL660 Blaze SSD comes with the drive, a USB-C to USB-C cable, a USB-C to USB-A cable, a neat little dock for keeping the drive upright on your desk and a carrying case. While it’s not the fastest SSD out there, it offers respectable performance and a colorful design for a rather reasonable price of $130 for the 512GB model and $200 for the 1TB model.
