Lomography Launches a New High-Contrast, Slow, Panchromatic 35mm Film Stock
Lomography has announced the release of Fantôme Kino B&W ISO 8, a new high-contrast black and white 35mm film stock. The Fantôme Kino is the last addition to the Kino B&W Film family and taken from an old german cinema film that comes with lots of contrast and deep shadows.
While this super slow ISO 8 may not suits everyone’s style of shooting, Lomography describes it as “perfect for pinhole, striking portraits or gritty street scene snaps”.
Touted as a “brand new high contrast film with panchromatic sensitivity for a truly cinematic look”, Fantôme Kino B&W exhibits a high contrast look with smooth grain.
When shooting with such a slow ISO emulsion, it’s recommended to pay extra attention to exposure by ensuring that your lens has a fast enough aperture to feed the beast with a decent amount of light. You’ll also need a camera that allows full manual control to select such a slow ISO for the meter reading or use an external light meter. In case of a dark scene or even in plain daylight don’t hesitate to pop your flash to fill-up the shadows.
As with Lomography’s recent film releases, Fantôme Kino B&W is available on preorder with an expected release date of June 2020.You can pre-order it now for 20% off, in a 5-pack ($35.60) or 10-pack ($71.20).
