Olympus Unveils the Latest M.Zuiko Digital Lens Roadmap with Three New Lenses Due Out in 2020
Olympus has been in the news a lot lately, but today there’s some good news on the horizon for the company. A new Olympus lens roadmap for 2020 has just been released, and it looks as though they are making good on their promise of releasing three new lenses a year, as well as will bring a feeling of calm for every street photographers who use Micro Four-Thirds cameras.
The updated Micro Four Thirds roadmap published alongside the 150-400mm development announcement last January – which until now was the most recent version available – contained placeholders for at least eight lenses. And one of the new lenses on the roadmap was subsequently revealed in February as the M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-200mm F3.5-6.3.
Three lens model updates to the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital Lens roadmap, including the addition of the ultra-compact M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-45mm F4.0 PRO and super-telephoto M.Zuiko Digital ED 100-400mm F5.0-6.3 IS lenses. They have also added a PRO series telephoto zoom lens. All lens models are compatible with the Micro Four Thirds System standard.
These lenses are in addition to the previously-announced M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-400mm F4.5 TC1.25x IS PRO super-telephoto zoom lens. It features a 1.25x built-in teleconverter and covers a focal length range of 300 – 1000mm (35mm equivalent). The combination of this lens with the MC-20 2.0x teleconverter makes a handheld super-telephoto shooting possible at 2000mm (35mm equivalent).
With these new products, Olympus will further expand its telephoto lens lineup, maximizing the advantages of the Micro Four Thirds System, including excellent image quality, compact lightweight systems, and superior image stabilization performance.

The compact system delivers remarkable portability, and the built-in teleconverter provides convenience, making it the optimal super-telephoto zoom lens for sports and bird photography. This lens has an expected availability of 2020.
