Paolo Pellegrin: Event Horizon
The exhibition “Event Horizon” was showcased at Le Stanze della Fotografia from August 30, 2023, to January 7, 2024. This exhibition revealed the struggles of the modern world and the impacts of climate change through the lens of Paolo Pellegrin, one of Italy’s foremost contemporary photographers. Pellegrin, born in Rome in 1964, had earned acclaim for the humanity embedded in his gaze, a quality that rendered his works exceptional and granted him the liberty to transcend surface impressions.
Featuring over 300 images, including an exclusive report on Ukraine, the exhibition spanned from 1995 to 2023, documenting Pellegrin’s extensive fieldwork. From Gaza to Beirut, Rome to Japan, America to the climate changes in Namibia, Iceland, and Greenland, and concluding with the conflict in Ukraine, these visuals reflected the photographer’s global journey over the past year. They eloquently portrayed the vulnerability and resilience of humanity as it engaged intimately with nature’s grandeur, aiming to unravel a pivotal theme in the contemporary world: the intricate relationship between humanity and its natural environment.
Annalisa D’Angelo and Denis Curti curated the exhibition in collaboration with Magnum Photos.
