Pergear Announces a 14mm f/2.8 for Sony, Canon, Nikon, and Leica Cameras
Pergear has released a 14mm f/2.8 manual focus ultra-wide rectilinear lens and is intended for full-frame mirrorless cameras, specifically Sony E-mount, Nikon Z-mount, Canon RF-mount, and Leica L-mount, but it can also be used with APS-C models, providing a 21mm equivalent focal length, according to the company.
The Pergear 14mm f/2.8 lens is made up of 13 elements organized into nine groups, including two aspherical lenses and five ultra-high refractive index elements that, according to the company, aid in minimizing distortion and spherical aberrations, resulting in improved sharpness and accurate image rendering. The optical formula also includes three extra-low dispersion components, which Pergear claims are utilized to eliminate color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to create exceptional clarity and color fidelity.
A 10-bladed diaphragm controls the aperture, which ranges from f/2.8 to f/22. According to Pergear, the fast f/2.8 aperture is intended for use in a variety of lighting circumstances, as well as for manipulating depth of field and isolating subject matter.
A manual aperture ring is used to control the aperture. On that note, the all-metal lens is purely manual and has no electrical connection with a connected camera, which is likely why Pergear is allowed to offer it for Canon RF-mount, as Canon presently does not license its mirrorless mount to any third-party makers.
According to Pergear, the lens has very little focus breathing as well. It weighs 500 grams and has dimensions of 66mm x 87mm. The front of the lens, which accommodates 82mm filters, has been treated with a multi-layer coating that reduces flare and ghosting and improves contrast and color accuracy when working in intense lighting settings.
When used on a full-frame camera, the 14mm f/2.8 has a 114-degree field of view, which, along with the lens’s rectilinear construction, results in little distortion, allowing the lens to be used in both landscape and architecture applications.

The Pergear 14mm f/2.8 full-frame manual lens is available in any of four mirrorless mount options for $270.
