Pergear Releases the 60mm f/2.8 Macro Full Frame Lens
The 60mm f/2.8 macro lens from Pergear has been updated to handle full-frame sensors while preserving 2x macro reproduction. The first 2x macro lens from Pergear was released in 2021, and this new version of the lens improves on that. That lens was also a 60mm f/2.8, but it was made only for APS-C and Micro Four Thirds cameras.
“With a 2x magnification, there is no vignetting when shooting at macro, and there is still a little bit of vignetting at the telephoto end,” Pergear says. “The de-clicked aperture ring offers smooth, silent rotation throughout the aperture range, making it ideal for close-range video applications and shooting. The multi-layer coating has been applied to individual elements and reduces flare and ghosting in order to produce greater contrast and color accuracy when working in strong lighting conditions.”
Three high refractive index elements are included in its optical system, which has 10 elements total and is organized into seven groups. According to Pergear, these elements help to manage spherical aberrations, lessen distortion, and achieve high clarity and accurate depiction. The lens has a 10 blade diaphragm and an aperture range of f/2.8 to f/16. The front filter has a 62mm diameter and a 7.51 inch minimum focusing distance.
The Pergear 60mm f/2.8 II has a manual focus only design, thus the manufacturer added depth of field and focus distance scales to accommodate it. The lens is available in mounts smaller than full frame, such as Fujifilm X and Micro Four thirds, despite being built for full-frame cameras like Sony E, Nikon Z, Leica L, and Canon RF.
Here are some sample pictures:
The original Pergear 60mm f/2.8 was significantly more limited due to only supporting tiny sensors and retailed for $229. Pergear improved the lens in some way by increasing the mount support and lowering the price; at the time of publishing, it was offered for $199. It’s one of the cheapest full-frame 2x extreme macro lenses on the market.
