Phase One Unveils the XC 40 Camera

Today, Phase One announced the latest addition to its medium-format lineup: the XC 40. Building on the success of last year’s XC model, this new variant comes equipped with a Rodenstock HR Digaron-S 40mm lens, offering photographers a highly refined tool for capturing stunning, high-resolution images. This makes the XC40 perfect for architectural, landscape, and fine art photographers who need to capture large scenes with extraordinary clarity.

While the lens is a notable upgrade, the core specifications of the XC 40 remain in line with its predecessor, maintaining Phase One’s reputation for delivering top-tier image quality. The XC 40 carries the same 151-megapixel CMOS sensor found in the previous XC model. This sensor offers a remarkable dynamic range of 15 f-stops, allowing for a broader spectrum of tones and colors in your images. The back-illuminated design (BSI) enhances low-light performance, making it ideal for a wide range of shooting environments, including long exposure photography with times of up to 60 minutes.

At the moment, no information regarding the price or availability of the Phase One XC40 has been released.
