An adapter for manual focus has now been made available by Samyang for the V-AF T1.9 Sony E-Mount cinema lenses. A redesigned focus ring with hard stops and markings converts the lenses into legitimate cinema lenses. Moreover, the manual focus adapter now has a 95mm outside diameter, which is cinema standard.

The Samyang V-AF T1.9 lineup’s first three lenses debuted in October 2022. These are, in a nutshell, small and light lenses for Sony E-Mount cameras. They all have an integrated tally light, cover full-frame image sensors, and are reasonably priced at about $649/€500 per lens. The focus rings on each lens revolve 300° and have 0.8mod focus gears, which is the industry standard; however, there is no hard stop.

Any V-AF T1.9 lens with a front bayonet mount can be equipped with the Samyang Manual Focus Adapter as an accessory. Electronic pins on the front of each lens allow it to electrically identify the adapter and make a customized adjustment to it.

Because the adapter is so light, it won’t put a lot of strain on your Sony E-Mount. Also, when the adapter is installed, the original manual focus ring of the lens can operate as an aperture ring. The industry-standard 95mm outer diameter of the Samyang manual focus adapter makes installing a clamp-on matte box simple. Additionally included is a front tally lamp that is incorporated into the adapter.
