Samyang Introduces the World’s First AF Cine Lens for E-Mount Cameras

Samyang Optics has introduced the V-AF lens lineup, the world’s first autofocus cinema lenses for full-frame E-mount systems. The new lenses make it easier for creatives to shoot videos.

The new lens lineup has been optimized for video production to meet the needs of its video-shooting and content producer customers. The first in the lineup to be on sale will be the V-AF 75mm T1.9, and Samyang will release the other four lenses in the series by the end of 2023: a 20mm T1.9, a 24mm T1.9, a 35mm T1.9, and a 45mm T1.9.

Samyang states that its 75mm T1.9 lens has an image circle of 43.3mm and a minimum focusing distance of 69cm but does not disclose the optical design of the lens (27.2″). Samyang adds that from infinity to one meter, there is a concentrated breathing movement of 11.7%. (3.3ft).
V-AF has made it easier for the gimbal and the drone to work together by using the same shape for both ultra-wide and semi-telephoto. The weight and size of drone payloads were lowered by their small size (72.2 x 72.1 mm) and lightweight (280g). There are no additional settings required when utilizing a gimbal because the V-AF series has a homogeneous center of gravity and size.
The lens has a feature called Focus Save that allows you to recall a particular focus point in addition to the built-in autofocus. Additionally, this button can be programmed to carry out other tasks. Furthermore, two tally lamps are located immediately on the lens to show whether the camera to which it is linked is currently recording.

The 9 aperture blades provide a bokeh that appears natural, according to the manufacturer, and all lenses in the new V-AF series are color-matched to prevent shifts when switching lenses.

Samyang adds that all five lenses will provide the optical resolution necessary for 8K video and that they will all have a consistent color tone over the whole range, resulting in little fluctuation while changing focal lengths on location.

The new V-AF 75mm T1.9 will be sold for about $630.
