Sigma Unveils the 15mm f/1.4 DG DN Diagonal Fisheye Art Lens
Sigma has introduced the 15mm f/1.4 DG DN Diagonal Fisheye Art. The new lens is the world’s first f/1.4 diagonal fisheye for interchangeable full-frame cameras. The new 15mm f/1.4 lens joins the 14mm f/1.4 DG DN, as well as the 20mm f/1.4 and 24mm f/1.4 DG DN primes, as excellent choices for low-light wide-angle photography, including astrophotography.
The 15mm f/1.4 DG DN Diagonal Fisheye lens has a 180-degree field of view and is designed to capture spectacular, sweeping landscapes. Its ultra-fast f/1.4 aperture makes it ideal for night sky photography. Sigma also highlights that a fisheye lens is a fantastic choice for close-up action images, such as those of extreme sports.
The lens has 21 elements in 15 groups, including four FLDs, three SLDs, and two aspherical elements. It promises to provide high-resolution photographs throughout the whole image area, even at f/1.4. Sigma engineers also paid great attention to reducing sagittal coma flare, guaranteeing that the lens performs well in astrophotography and shows stars as appropriately spherical.
The lens features a lens heater retainer, which is a little step at the front of the lens that prevents a belt-shaped heat strip from projecting over the front element. When the ambient temperature lowers, the heat strip prevents condensation from accumulating inside the lens. The lens also incorporates a unique cover lens cap with two slots to securely store rear filters, a rear filter holder for sheet-type filters, and a locking mechanism.
The new fisheye lens boasts a High-response Linear Actuator (HLA) autofocus mechanism, ensuring fast focusing and remarkable precision. The lens can focus as near as 38.5 centimeters, for a maximum magnification ratio of 1:16.The lens, including the tripod foot, weighs 1,360 grams and measures 157.9 millimeters long. The maximum diameter is 104 mm.
The Sigma 15mm f/1.4 DG DN Diagonal Fisheye Art lens will begin shipping in mid-March for $1,999. It will launch in E and L-Mount versions.
