Sigma Unveils the 16-300mm f/3.5-6.7 DC OS Contemporary Lens
Sigma has launched the 16-300mm f/3.5-6.7 DC OS Contemporary lens for L-mount, Sony E-mount, Fujifilm X mount, and Canon RF mount. It is the company’s first all-in-one lens in years, and despite its wide focal range, it boasts unrivaled optical quality.
Sigma says that the 16-300mm f/3.5-6.7 DC OS Contemporary—a full-frame 35mm equivalent of 24-450mm—is the world’s first mirrorless lens with an estimated zoom ratio of 18.8x and the largest for an APS-C size mirrorless lens.
“This ultra-versatile all-in-one zoom is the perfect tool for creative photographers who want to work in a wide range of photographic genres,” the company adds.
The new optic covers the entire range from wide-angle to super-telephoto, with a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2 (at 70mm) and a minimum focusing distance of 6.7 inches at the wide end and 41.4 inches at the long end.
The 16-300mm f/3.5-6.7 DC OS is made of 20 elements divided into 14 groups, including one FLD, four SLD, and four aspherical elements. It has a minimum aperture of f/22 to f/45. This design promises to reduce flare and ghosting while maintaining excellent image quality across the zoom range, thanks to what Sigma claims is outstanding aberration correction. The business also claims that the lens suppresses focus breathing for constant framing, making it suitable for filmmakers.
The lens weighs 615 grams and measures 73.8 millimeters in diameter and 121.4 millimeters in length, which Sigma attributes to excellent mechanical and optical design. It has Sigma’s high-response linear actuator (HLA) motor, which promises incredibly fast, smooth, and precise autofocus.
The Sigma 16-300mm f/3.5-6.7 DC OS Contemporary has optical image stabilization (supported by Sigma’s OS2 algorithm), a zoom lock switch, dust and splash resistance, compatibility with Sigma’s USB dock UD-11 (L-mount only), and mount swapping via Sigma’s Mount Conversion Service.

The lens will be available starting April 17 and will cost $699 for all four supported mount options.
