Sigma Brings APS-C Lenses for Nikon Z-Mount Cameras
Sigma has announced the release of three DC DN APS-C prime lenses for Nikon’s Z mount, marking the company’s first lenses for Nikon’s mirrorless system. Sigma joins Tamron, Viltrox, Yongnuo, and TT Artisan in producing Z-mount autofocus lenses, implying that Nikon is working with at least some of these companies to develop the system.
Three f/1.4 prime lenses will be offered in Nikon Z mount: the 16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary, 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary, and 56mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary. These lenses are currently available in five mounts, Sony E-mount, Canon EF-M mount, FUJIFILM X Mount, Micro Four Thirds mount, and L-Mount.
The three lenses share many features, including a stepping motor for “smooth, quiet, and superb” operation, as well as a nine-bladed aperture diaphragm.
The 16mm f/1.4 lens is made up of 16 elements spread across 13 grounds, including three FLD glass elements, two SLD glass elements, and two molded glass aspherical elements. It features a 9.8-inch minimum focusing distance and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:9.9. The 30mm f/1.4 lens is composed of nine elements organized into seven groups, with a minimum focusing distance of 11.8 inches, and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:7. The 56mm f/1.4 lens is made up of ten elements arranged in six groups, with a minimum focusing distance of 19.7 inches, and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:7.4.
