Sirui Officially Joins Micro Four Thirds System

Panasonic and OM System announced the Micro Four Thirds System standard in 2008. Since then, it has expanded to over 60 members and continues to grow. Guangdong Sirui Optical Co., Ltd. is the standards group’s newest member. The optics company, also known as Sirui, pledges to bring new Micro Four Thirds-compliant items to market, including optical lenses, lighting equipment, and other products that support shooting for filmmakers.

Sirui offers two series that include Micro Four Thirds mounting. The Night Walker T1.2 cinema lenses, available in 16mm, 24mm, 35mm, 55mm, and 75mm focal lengths, are compatible with Micro Four Thirds. There are additional 1.33x anamorphic lenses specifically created for Micro Four Thirds, available in 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, and 75mm formats.

Sirui isn’t the only new Micro Four Thirds member this year. Logitech joined the Micro Four Thirds System in March, introducing the new Mevo Core Micro Four Thirds streaming camera.

While it is an open standard, there are certain advantages to being an official member, such as access to essential research and development resources, which Sirui may require as it extends its autofocus lens capabilities.
