Taking aim at professional photographers, Sony Electronics unveiled a USB hub that includes readers for UHS-II SD and microSD cards. There are plenty of hubs that can access memory cards, but the MRW-S3 is faster than any of them.

“Professional photographers, videographers and creators no longer need to worry about carrying numerous adapters or fret about using up ports on their latest PCs with USB Type-C ports,” writes Sony. “The MRW-S3 is a one-stop solution for fast and reliable data transfer in the form of a handy USB Hub.”

Not only are you getting blazing fast data transfer of up to 1000MB/s while delivering 100W of power so you don’t actually lose a port in the process, the thing also features an HDMI port with 4K/30p support so you can connect your external monitor through the same hub, all while you’re offloading the latest shoot off of your SD card.

It is also constructed of solid aluminium and features a grip for better handling. Despite this, it weighs an impressively slender 95g, making it easy to take on your travels. This, combined with the potential the MRW-S3 has to slim down the number of cables and readers you need, makes it a potentially compelling addition to any photo or video kit bag.

The MRW-S3 is set to launch in “Fall 2019,” price TBD.
