SUB13 Unveils an Underwater Housing for Leica M
SUB13 designed an underwater housing with manual focus control for Leica M10 and M11 cameras. The housing is made of a single piece of 6061 aluminum, with gold anodized titanium accents and an optical glass front port. The initial batch has already sold out. The second batch will be released in September 2023. The Sub13 house starts at $6,950, but it seeks to justify that cost through performance and high-end materials. An underwater housing for the Leica Q camera is also on the way.
“Over-engineering and ultimately collectibility and legacy was important,” says Matt Draper, the system’s developer. “Each housing is CNC machined from a single piece of aluminum. All hardware is machined from a single piece of titanium, sandblasted, then anodized gold. Every single bolt is purposely designed and machined rather than pulled from a list of available hardware, right down to manufacturing our own titanium thread inserts. Even the baseplate your M sits on, inside the housing, is solid titanium,” he explains.
