The Leica Women Foto Project Award 2024 Winners Announced
Leica Camera is thrilled to announce the winners of the fifth edition of the Leica Women Foto Project (LWFP) 2024. Luvia Lazo from Mexico, Camille Farrah Lenain from the USA, Stasia Schmidt from Canada, and Dola Posh from Great Britain have been awarded the prestigious LWFP for their outstanding contributions to the field of photography.
The Leica Women Foto Project (LWFP) was initiated in 2019 with the aim of promoting women’s perspectives in photography. This year’s theme, “Perspective is Power: Reclamation, Resilience, Rebirth,” attracted numerous talented photographers from around the globe. The LWFP 2024 winners offer unique insights into their respective stories, showcasing the diverse narratives of women in photography.
Luvia Lazo (Mexico):
Lazo’s series, “Women from the Clouds,” portrays women with Zapotec roots, shedding light on indigenous communities in Mexico. Through her lens, Lazo challenges monolithic perspectives of femininity and aims to empower women in native villages. https://www.luvialazo.com/
Camille Farrah Lenain (USA):
Lenain’s project, “Made of Smokeless Fire,” captures the lives of LGBTQIA+ individuals within Muslim societies in France. Her series delves into the complexities of identity and belonging, confronting stereotypes and advocating for inclusivity. https://camillelenain.com/
Stasia Schmidt (Canada):
Schmidt’s work, “Ephemerality,” offers a poetic interpretation of female presence in remote landscapes, countering traditional portrayals dominated by male explorers. Her images explore themes of femininity, impermanence, and the beauty of the natural world.

Dola Posh (Great Britain):
Posh’s series, “Omo mi,” highlights the emotional journey of black women during postpartum experiences. Through intimate portraits and personal stories, Posh aims to create awareness and support for maternal health and well-being. https://www.dolaposh.com/
Each LWFP 2024 winner receives a prize of $10,000 along with a Leica SL2-S camera equipped with a Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-70 f/2.8 Asph lens. The award, sponsored by Leica Camera USA in collaboration with Photoville, underscores the importance of women’s voices in photography and celebrates their creative contributions
