The Winning Photos of World Press Photo 2019, a Breakdown of Cameras
World Press Photo just announced the winning photos for the 2019 edition of it’s world’s most prestigious photojournalism contest. Camera metadata shared alongside the top photos is again providing us with an inside look at what gear the world’s top photojournalists are using at the moment.
Here is a breakdown of the cameras used by photojournalists in the 2019 World Press Photo contest provided as usual by Spanish photography site Photolari. Some interesting stats on the winning photographs – over 70% of the photos were shot with Nikon/Canon full-frame DSLR cameras while only 4.4% were taken with a mirrorless camera (only 2.6% were taken with a Sony camera).
Among the curious facts, it always draws attention to the number of veteran models that still enduring in the backpacks of reporters.
There are, for example, a pair of Nikon D3S, two modest Canon EOS 6D and a also modest Nikon D7200 with which Bence Maté has won the first prize in nature photo.
And yes, true, the photos are made by photographers, this is just a simple exercise in curiosity.
