Tilta, which is well-known for its camera support equipment and accessories, has unveiled the Hydra Alien Mini, a new small stabilizing arm for action cameras and cellphones.

The Hydra Alien Mini system is designed for creators who want portability. It includes the Hydra Alien Mini stabilization arm, a car mounting device, and a handheld arm handle.

The Hydra Alien Mini is not Tilta’s first vehicle mounting solution. The company also sells a regular Hydra Alien series, designed to install massive, heavy cameras on fast-moving vehicles. Robust car mounting systems can be pretty complicated and pricey.

While these large stabilizing arms are expensive, the Hydra Alien Mini is more accessible. Since it is designed for action cameras and smartphones, which weigh far less than full-scale movie rigs, the stabilizing arm is significantly smaller and lighter. It also only takes a single suction cup to secure a camera to a car instead of the usual plethora of parts and attachments.

Tilta’s innovative compact stabilizing arm offers low-drag damping thanks to its aluminum alloy shock-absorbing arm, which ensures stability at speeds up to 100 km/h. The entire package, including the automobile mounting device, weighs only 983 grams and can carry camera loads of up to 600 grams, which is adequate for most action cameras. Tilta mentions the DJI Action 3 and 4, the DJI Pocket 3, and the Insta360 X3 and X4, though the stabilizer is compatible with other cameras, including an iPhone. The Tilta Hydra Alien Mini is also lightweight, making it easy to use-handed, and the shock-absorbing arm promises to keep capture stable even when jogging or shooting on uneven terrain.
