TTArtisan 27mm f/2.8 AF Lens for Sony E and Nikon Z Mounts
TTArtisan has announced that it will bring its 27mm f/2.8 autofocus lens, which is presently available for Fujifilm X-mount cameras, to Sony E and Nikon Z-mount cameras. The 27mm f/2.8, which cost $149, was the first autofocus lens made by TTArtisan for Fujifilm X-mount cameras. It was first marketed as a small, pancake-style camera ideal for everyday shooting and had a 41mm equivalent focal length (on 35mm cameras). As a result, it weighs less than 93 grams and is only around an inch long.
The lens has a six-element design divided into five groups, and a seven-bladed diaphragm controls its aperture range of f/2.8 to f/16. Two high-refractive index elements in that lens configuration can assist reduce color variations and manage spherical aberration. With the addition of Z and E-mount support, none of that will change, albeit the precise weight of the lens will vary between 88 and 100 grams depending on which mount is chosen.
The lens still has a 56-degree angle of view, which the company claims contributes to creating a distinctive visual style perfect for still-life, close-up, and travel photography.
The lens still has autofocus, driven by an STM (stepping motor). More specifically, the company claims that by using a “STM plus leading screw” design, it may be small enough to fit into a small lens while yet being effective enough to provide smooth autofocus. Additionally, according to TTArtisan, it is silent and functions with cameras that have in-body image stabilization so that it can be used for both still photos and motion pictures.
The motor is fast and precise enough, according to TTArtisan, to function with a camera’s eye-autofocus. It remains to be seen if the lens is strong enough to accommodate Sony cameras, which feature an autofocus mechanism that is noticeably more complicated than Fujifilm cameras.
A physical switch allows photographers to convert between manual and autofocus, and while the dial is set to “A,” they may also regulate the aperture through the camera. It should be noted that not all Fujifilm cameras allow for automatic aperture control. Additionally, neither Nikon nor Sony’s supported cameras have been fully disclosed by TTArtisan.
TTArtisan has not yet determined when the new lens mounts will be available but does confirm that the price will remain constant at $149.
