TTArtisan Unveils an AF 23mm f/1.8 APS-C Prime Lens

TTArtisan is expanding its f/1.8 APS-C prime lens lineup with the AF 23mm f/1.8. The TTArtisan AF 23mm f/1.8 prime lens is available now for Fujifilm X Series cameras and will soon be available in Sony E and Nikon Z variations. It has a traditional 35mm equivalent focal length. The $127 lens is intended to be a low-cost choice for beginner photographers who want to utilize a brighter lens than a conventional kit zoom. According to TTArtisan, the 35mm equivalent prime lens is ideal for street, portrait, and landscape photography.

Despite its modest price, the TTArtisan 23mm f/1.8 has a sturdy aluminum construction, just like the company’s other lenses. The lens weights only 210 grams, thanks to the renowned lightweight aluminum, making it easy to carry for long periods of time. The lens supports 52mm filters and comes with a petal-shaped lens hood.

The lens’ optical design consists of 11 elements grouped in nine groups. These include two extra-low dispersion components and one high index piece of glass. The attached camera controls the lens’ nine-bladed aperture diaphragm.

The lens uses a stepper motor for autofocus, which the makers claims is silent and quick. The lens can focus as near as 0.3 meters, which equates to around 0.15x maximum magnification. Because the lens lacks an AF/MF switch, the camera must regulate the autofocus drive mode.

The new TTArtisan AF 23mm f/1.8 for Fujifilm X mount is currently available for purchase for $127. The Sony E and Nikon Z mount versions are in the works, but are not yet available for purchase through TTArtisan.
