TTArtisan Unveils a New Folding Instant Camera
The world’s largest photography and video expo, CP+, began this week in Yokohama, Japan, where TTArtisan presented the 203T, a surprise retro folding instant film camera. TTArtisan, widely renowned for its lenses, is making its first foray into cameras with the 203T folding instant camera.
The 203T is available in four colors: black, red, orange, and blue. All of them have the same functionality and use Instax Mini film. The camera has a Cooke lens design and enables bulb mode. The lens aperture goes from f/3.5 to f/22, and the camera has shutter speeds ranging from one second to 1/300s. The 203T operates entirely mechanically, with no batteries required.
The employment of a Cooke lens is required here to give the photographs produced by this vintage-styled camera a retro feel.
The Cooke triplet design does a lot with very little. It consists of three elements organized into three groups and was a notable achievement in glass at the time. Since its inception, it has been utilized for more than just cameras, including binoculars, refracting telescopes, and projection lenses.
Analog lovers will like TTArtisan’s selection of the Cooke lens, as well as the overall look of the new 203T. It is similar to the Seagull 203, a rangefinder folding camera that debuted in 1963 as the Shanghai 203.
While no pricing information is known yet, TTArtisan expects the new camera to be available this fall.
