Venus Optics Unveils the World’s Smallest 2x Macro for Full-Frame: 85mm f/5.6 APO
Venus Optics has announced the world’s smallest 2x macro lens for full-frame Laowa 85mm f/5.6 2x Ultra Macro APO, a mirrorless-designed macro lens with a 28.55° angle of view. It is available for Nikon Z, Canon RF, Sony E, and Leica M mounts.
The manual lens is constructed of 13 elements in nine groups, including three extra-low dispersion elements, using an apochromatic (APO) design to minimize chromatic aberrations. The lens features a seven-bladed aperture diaphragm, an angle of view of 28.55-degrees, and a front filter thread size of 46mm. The lens features a minimum focusing distance of 16.3cm, has a 2x magnification ratio, and uses an internal focusing mechanism so the front barrel of the lens doesn’t extend when focusing on subjects.
Kicking out the traditional heavy bulky macro lens, Laowa makes this 85mm lens to be revolutionarily small. Built specifically for mirrorless full-frame cameras with a smaller f/5.6 aperture, the new 85mm macro lens only weighs approximately 259g and with 53mm×81mm in size. It is perfect for photographers who looking for an extreme lightweight setup. This lens would match the portable mirrorless camera body perfectly, making macro shooting a breeze while rendering pictures with excellent and outstanding image quality.
