Viltrox Announces a 13mm f/1.4 AF Lens for Fujifilm X-Mount Cameras
Chinese manufacturer Viltrox has just announced a new wide-angle lens for FUJIFILM street photographers, the Viltrox 13mm f/1.4 AF. This compact and lightweight wide-angle lens, which offers a roughly 20mm full-frame equivalent focal length, features an internal STM motor for fast autofocus performances. It’ll start shipping in February 2022.
The Viltrox 13mm f/1.4 AF is constructed of 14 elements in 11 groups. It has a minimum focusing distance of 22cm, uses a stepping motor STM to drive the internal focusing mechanism, features a nine-blade aperture diaphragm, and uses a 67mm front filter thread. As for measurements, the lens comes in at 74mm in diameter, 90mm long, and weighs 420g. As said before, the lens focus internally so it won’t extend or retract with the changing focus.
According to the images, it looks like the lens is kind of weather-resistant thanks to some internal rubber gaskets.
The lens is currently available to pre-order for $469 on Pergear’s online shop. It comes with a microfiber pouch, front/rear lens caps, and a petal-style lens hood. The first orders are expected to ship out in February 2022. As a direct comparison, the Samyang AF 12mm F/2 X currently retails for $499.
