Viltrox Announces the AF 25mm f/1.7 Air APS-C Lens
Viltrox has introduced its latest lens, the AF 25mm f/1.7 Air APS-C. Viltrox is well-known for producing high-quality lenses that are both professional and inexpensive. It specializes in mirrorless prime lenses, and this latest addition to the Viltrox lineup fits right in.
The APS-C lens’s 25mm focal length is equivalent to around 38mm in full-frame terms. Viltrox intends the viewpoint to be suitable for street, environmental portraits, still life, and indoor photography, where the wide f/1.7 aperture may shine.
The AF 25mm f/1.7 Air APS-C lens is the third in Viltrox’s “Air Trinity.” The AF 35mm f/1.7 Air, as well as the AF 56mm f/1.7 Air, are available in Sony E-mount, Nikon Z-mount, and Fujifilm X-mount. The AF 25mm f/1.7 Air APS-C, part of the Air series of lenses, is light, weighing only 170 grams. It is also small, measuring only 56 millimeters in length and 64 millimeters in diameter at its maximum.
Despite its advertised low price, the lens promises features seen in more costly competitors. Its optics are of exceptional quality, featuring ED and nano-coated lenses for sharp and bright results. A silent STM motor powers the autofocus, which detects eyes and faces and has a minimum focusing distance of 0.3 meters. Its video performance is also noteworthy, as it promises support for in-body stabilization while maintaining low distortion and minimum focus breathing.
The AF 25mm f/1.7 Air APS-C lens has nine aperture blades to create the desired circular bokeh. The normal 52mm filter size allows users to be more creative.
The lens has a lotus-shaped cover for added protection and flare reduction. Its design has additional protection, including a waterproof front lens with an anti-fouling coating. The lens mount is also comprised of metal—hardened aluminum alloy—for added durability.
The USB-C port for firmware upgrades is a useful feature in a lens at this price point. The lens also contains the mount’s full electrical connections, which allow for full EXIF information transmission.
The Viltrox AF 25mm f/1.7 Air APS-C lens, which costs $176, is now available for Sony E-mount, Nikon Z-mount, and Fujifilm X-mount.
