About me
Perry Hall's story is about overcoming adversity & pursuing one's passion. Born to outlaw biker parents on Maryland's Eastern Shore, Perry faced significant challenges throughout his childhood, including growing up in a broken home & being in and out of juvenile detention centers, being on probation, & at 18, being homeless for several years. Despite societal labels, he refused to give up & let his circumstances define him.
His passion for skateboarding, street life & photography eventually led him to discover his true calling. In 2014, he began teaching himself photography in Rome, using a Leica M6 camera, a flash & 35mm film. Over the next nine years, he made Rome his home base, refining his aesthetic & developing his voice as an artist. His works include "Street Skateboarding: The Act of Resistance," "When In Rome," Where the wild roses grow," "Sincerely Cuba," & "devil lived."
Despite his creative pursuits, he always retained his love for photography. He settled in Austin, Texas, where he teaches street photography workshops & continues to work on projects. He is also a co-founder of Daylight School, a photography school in Rome specializing in street & documentary photography genres.
Perry's journey from a homeless teenager to an accomplished photographer & educator is a testament to the transformative power of the human spirit. Despite his many challenges, he refused to let his circumstances define him or give up on his dreams.
