I think this is one of my best photos. 
For me it has so many layers. 
Most importantly it fulfils criteria number one – it leaps off the page. As an image it resonates.
Then there is the scene. Barbie, for all her curves and pouting prettiness, is contrived and manipulated innocence. This contrasts strongly against the totally natural innocence of the children.
And then there is Life and Death. Because she is man-made and can be replicated over and over again, Barbie has the potential for eternal life. This particular Barbie is about to be consumed (die) but the children are unaware of any of this; in fact death is a complete abstract for them.
The knife doesn’t mean death, it means cake.
