There are suggestions here too that we’re inadvertently forming a symbiotic relationship with our environment of Corporate and functional backdrops.
Many of these photographs have been shot in a half light with a muted colour palette. That may reveal something sad or uncertain about these scenes, but paradoxically, there is an intention to transcend the mundane by sometimes making comical comment – underscoring the idea that we know less than we think we do – the world has never been nor ever will be wholly rational after all.
If our aesthetic sense is being dulled, then aesthetics matter more than ever. Attempting to extract something meaningful and appealing out of an increasingly dehumanized and utilitarian modern city-scape, I would suggest, becomes a requirement for today’s street photographer.
