I saw this man approach from a distance walking calmly. I could see that he didn’t seem to care at all about the bruised look on his face and his hands, supposedly the result of a brutal fight, as if it were part of his daily life. I was struck by the huge difference between his appearance and his relaxed attitude. This notorious contrast, at least for me, was what pushed me to make my shot. The woman in the ice cream cart looks at the man with contained disapproval. Another man from the neighborhood appears looking the other way, breaking the scene.
