Someone said ‘Kartik Vows’. Somewhere the name of this festival is ‘Rakher Upvas’. Many people also know it as ‘Gosair Upvas’ and ‘Ghrit Pradeep Prajbalan’ festivals. It is said that Baba Loknath asked to light lamps and incense in the premises of the ashram by fasting in the month of Kartik(Bengoli calender month) to avoid various deadly diseases. Since then, every year on the last 15 days of the month of Kartik, the followers of traditional religions observe the festival on Saturdays and Tuesdays. One of the major centers of the festival is Bardi Loknath Brahmachari Ashram in Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj and Loknath Ashram in Swamibagh of the capital of Bangladesh. This festival is celebrated every year. Fans from far and wide gather here.
