Although people think that they know how rich the history of Belgrade is, most of them are probably wrong and may underestimate this city. Belgrade is full of historical monuments that everyone is familiar with, yet within the city there are numerous ruined and crumbling, unnoticed buildings which once had purpose in the very development of the country itself and as such are a window to what once was, to the past. Unfortunately, people who don’t know about these hidden gems are marked by a lack of interest to get to know them either way. And so the history of the city is being slowly erased before our own, uninterested eyes. It is expected that some of these buildings will just disappear casually so other, more “modern”, not unlike the other ones would take their place. I think that all of those buildings, almost invisible to the “modern” man are traces of the past and of our past creation which are slowly dissipating along with us, along with our will and empathy towards what once was and what could be, along with empathy towards life itself.
