Two boys having fun in their dad’s three wheeler van while dad washes the vehicle from outside on the eve of Viswakarma Puja on the sandy beach of Brahmaputra river that flows along Fancy Bazaar in Guwahati city. Viswakarma is believed to be the lord of all mechanical gadgets, machinery and vehicles. On this day in the month of September all the vehicles and machinery used for commercial purpose are given a loving wash and worshiped only to be loaded beyond their maximum load bearing capacity from the very next day onwards for the rest of the year. These vehicles here in India generally survive very less then their expected life due to continuous overloads.
