About me

Victor D. Kintanar, started as news photographer in 1992 for a local newspapers in Cebu City, Philippines. The next year he started corresponding for the Associated Press (AP) until 2006 and also with the European Press-Photo Agency (EPA) from 2003 until 2006. By 1999, he became freelance and in 2000, 2003 and 2005 he went to war-stricken Mindanao to document the conflict between the Philippine government and Muslim separatist rebels. He then returned to Cebu City to be a contract photographer for Reuters in 2006 until January 2015. His works have been published internationally in various news agencies, magazines and NGOs. His image of Cebu’s Dancing Jailbirds earned him as among the awardees of the 2007 Reuters Photos of the Year. Vic graduated from a scholarship grant in Diploma in Photojournalism and Certificate in Visual Literacy In The Newsroom at Kondrad Adenauer Asian Center For Journalism in Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines, last June 2012 and 2013 respectively. As a freelance photojournalist he continues to do projects for books, documentaries, reportage and correspondence to licas.news (formerly ucan).
